You are bidding on one unusual plumb bob as pictured.It is hollow inside, and it has the wood cap that at first glance is just a friction fit inside the neck. But the steel point extends up inside the plumb bob, and is a threaded rod inside the plumb bob. It has threads for wood, not metal, and the wood cap extends down far enough that the wood cap threads onto that inside rod to hold it secure. You have to be careful not to overtighten it, as the screw eye on top and the internal threads are both right hand threads, and if you overtighten it, the screw eye wants to unthread before the cap unthreads. I’ve seen a lot of plumb bobs but I don’t remember ever seeing one quite like this. It is unmarked, and it weighs 13.5 ounces on my postal scale.Overall length of the body, including the steel point but not including the cap, is about 4″. Diameter at the widest point is about 1-13/16″.It is hollow inside. The inside cavity extends down roughly 2-1/2″ from the top surface, and the walls are roughly 3/16″ to 1/4″ thick. Condition is good to very good, reasonably bright and shiny, with a variety of small dents and dings in the brass. SHIPPING: 2 pounds when boxed, insurance is included. No International shipping. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay.
