Disability means having a physical or mental impairment that limits a person’s abilities. Someone with a disability may need special equipment or assistance to perform daily tasks. People with disabilities may face discrimination because of their impairments. ARCH engages in the prevention and management of disabilities through the following:
Consultation and treatment
Consultation and treatment of persons with special physical needs requiring physiotherapy. We engage in the active treatment of patients with osteoarticular problems. Examples include spinal problems, such as herniated discs, and arthritic joint disorders.
Counselling
Counselling families and persons living with disabilities. Rehabilitation counselling is a type of therapy that focuses on helping people recover from injuries or illnesses. Our rehabilitation counsellors help patients learn how to live with their conditions.
Educative and medical services
Provision of educative and medical services for the prevention of physical deficiencies and deformities both in and out of the centre. Provision of preventative and corrective services for physical deficiency, including massage, exercise classes, bike rides, and other activities.
Follow-Up
Organize, and carry out follow-up and follow-through activities of physically handicapped persons who have been rehabilitated. Physical rehabilitation is done in a physical therapy setting. The patient is involved in the planning of the treatment plan for which the therapist explains to the patient how the plan will be carried out.
Promoting Rights
Promote, explain, defend, protect and further the rights of physically handicapped persons. Through national campaigns, we create awareness of our services within and without our region.
